Shawnee's Bates City BBQ has been in business since 2000. They are known for their Kansas City - Style hickory smoked meats, homemade sides, and family-friendly atmosphere. They offer dine-in, take-out, and catering and private event services. Bates takes pride in their family-owned business concept, which gives them a strong sense of identity has helped in building a very loyal customer base. They have received mixed reviews on some social media sites, but honestly, when we visited there, we found the food and customer service to be fantastic, sauce to be very tasty and prices to be reasonable! Our order included ribs, burnt ends, beef brisket, cole slaw, beans and fries. Absolutely no complaints here. And a shout out to their dining atmosphere. A pretty cool place for a hearty BBQ meal. Definitely worth giving them a shot.
